According to District Cooperative Officer Prince Anupam, this time eight lakh 27 thousand voters will exercise their franchise in the elections to be held in 344 PACS of East Champaran district. In the last 2019 elections, the number of PACS members in the district was 7.07 lakh. In such a situation, the last five In the year, names of about one lakh 20 thousand members have been added to various packs of the district.
The District Cooperative Officer said that after the final publication of the voter list, preparations for the elections are going on in the final stage. A list of selected booths has been demanded from all the blocks. He said that in the months of November and December, PACS will be distributed in a total of five phases. The election work will be completed. He said that the elections of 344 PACS of the district will be conducted in five phases. The election process will start from the second week of November. For which the date of voting is fixed between 26th November to 3rd December.
Nomination for the first phase will take place between 11th and 13th November. Voting will be held on 26th November. The second phase of nomination will be held from November 13 to 16 and voting will be held on November 27. In the third phase, nominations will be held from 16 to 18 November. Voting will take place on 29th November. The fourth phase of nominations will be held from November 17 to 19 and voting will take place on December 1. The nomination process for the fifth phase will take place between November 19 and 21. Voting will be held on December 3. Elections are to be held on a total of 11 posts including the President regarding the PACS elections. According to the District Cooperative Officer, the post of President will be unreserved in the PACS elections, whereas in the remaining 11 posts, two posts are reserved for Scheduled Caste-Tribe, two posts for OBC and two posts for EBC.
There are five posts of general category. Candidates of any caste can nominate themselves in this. At the same time, one post out of six posts of reserved caste and two posts out of five posts of general category are reserved for women.
