Varanasi, September 10 (HS). 'Active TB Patient Campaign' has started to find hidden TB patients in the district. In the campaign, health workers are going door-to-door and screening all the members. In the screening, sputum of potential persons with TB symptoms is being collected and sent for testing. Positive persons are being notified and put on immediate treatment. They are also being made aware under the TB Free Panchayat Campaign.
District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) Dr. Piyush Rai said on Tuesday that on the first day of the ACF campaign, health workers visited 10,069 houses in all 23 TB units of the district, in which 59,630 people were screened. During this, symptoms similar to TB were found in 337 people. Out of this, 194 potential people were examined, in which TB was confirmed in 11 people. All these patients were notified and put on immediate treatment. He said that 20 percent of the total population of the district is being covered in the ACF campaign.
A total of 198 teams have been formed to search for TB patients. One supervisor has been nominated for five teams for monitoring. A total of 40 supervisors have been given responsibility. The campaign has been started after training everyone. Along with this, one medical officer has also been nominated on each TB unit. The investigation team is taking sputum to check for possible TB. High risk areas have also been identified in the campaign, in which the investigation team will also go to jail, Kasturba Residential School, school, old age home, slum and other possible places. Sputum will be collected and sent to the laboratory for testing. If TB is found positive, treatment of the patients will be started. Sputum is also being tested in the microscopy lab. If TB bacteria is not found in the sputum test, then the patient's chest X-ray will also be done. Treatment of patients will start if TB infection is found.
On the other hand, under the TB Mukt Panchayat Abhiyan, an awareness rally was taken out by the students of Composite School in Kerakatpur village of Kashi Vidyapeeth Block. About 2500 students participated in it. The rally was organized with the joint cooperation of Health, Education, Panchayati Raj Department and Piramal Foundation.
