Action will be taken against those accused in Rs 162 crore pension scam: Valmiki

Chandigarh, April 2 (HS). Many officers and employees are certain to be punished in the pension scam in Haryana. State Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Vishambar Valmiki has called for a report in this regard after the meeting of officials on Tuesday.

Officials of half a dozen departments are under investigation in the scam of Rs 162 crore in pension given to the elderly in Haryana. Minister of State for Social Justice, Scheduled Caste and Backward Class Welfare Department Bishambhar Valmiki has said that no officer or employee guilty of the old age pension scam will be spared. He has asked for the complete investigation report. Apart from this, if any financial irregularity is found in other schemes, it will also be investigated.

The government has given instructions to take disciplinary action against the officials of the Social Welfare Department as well as Development and Panchayat, Local Bodies, Health and Family Welfare, Women and Child Development and Revenue Department. The Minister of State said that instructions have been given to top officials of all the concerned departments involved in this matter to submit a report in this regard. The involvement of many district level officials in this scam has come to light. Valmiki said that action will be taken against the accused very soon.
