Palamu, December 6 (HS). Panki MLA Dr. Shashibhushan Mehta held a meeting with the public distribution shopkeepers of Nilambar-Pitamberpur block area at Nilambar-Pitamberpur Maurya Farm House in Palamu district on Friday. During this, the MLA warned all the public distribution shopkeepers to improve their working style.
He has clearly said that dealers distributing less ration at any price will not be spared. Red card holder will have to pay five kg ration per unit. Similarly, yellow card holder will have to distribute 35 kg ration. Direct action will be taken against dealers distributing ration less than the prescribed quantity.
The MLA said that complaints are being received from various areas that dealers are giving less ration than the prescribed quantity. Instead of 5 kg per unit, only four and four and a half kg ration is being distributed to the red card holders, whereas instead of 35 kg to the yellow card holders, 25 kg ration is being distributed through dealers, which is against the rules. Even in the distribution of gram pulses, illegal money is being collected from card holders through dealers, whereas the distribution of pulses is to be done free of cost. The MLA said that many dealers are wrongly purchasing ration by making their yellow cards. There are many dealers who are also taking advantage of double ration card.
The MLA said that most of the public distribution shopkeepers in Panki Assembly are acting quite arbitrarily, which needs to be improved. MLA Dr. Mehta said that if the dealers do not change their working style, their license will be cancelled.
MLA Dr. Mehta has instructed MO Alok Pandey to identify the dealers who are taking advantage of yellow card and double ration card and take action against them. The MLA said that a public movement will be organized regarding the distribution of ration. Dealers will have to distribute ration in prescribed weight in any case.
He said that to ensure smooth distribution of ration, a committee will be formed, which will distribute ration in prescribed weight to the beneficiaries under its supervision. All dealers should ensure to distribute ration to the beneficiaries on time.
MLA Dr. Shashibhushan Mehta has also met Palamu Deputy Commissioner and demanded action against the dealers who indulge in irregularities in ration distribution. Many people were present on this occasion.
