Action should be taken against officials responsible for stampede

In the stampede during Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, 30 people died and more than 60 people were injured. After this, a PIL (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court, demanding strict measures and guidelines for the safety of pilgrims. Along with this, an appeal has also been made to take action against the officials responsible for this accident.

This petition filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari has demanded instructions from all states to provide basic information about security measures and guidelines at facilitation centers for pilgrims of Prayagraj.

The petition also states that proclamation, guidelines and display boards showing announcements, guidelines and paths should be installed for pilgrims, so that people coming from different states can easily help and do not face any problem. Apart from this, the petition also suggested that all the state governments along with the Uttar Pradesh government should deploy a small medical team of doctors and nurses for medical emergency in Prayagraj Mahakumbh, so that there is no shortage of medical staff.

The petition demanded strict action against the officers and responsible persons, whose negligence caused stampede. It also states that the Uttar Pradesh government should be directed to present a status report on the stampede situation in Mahakumbh on 29 January 2025 and initiate legal action against the officers and employees responsible for this.
