Lucknow, 03 August (HS). The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a tough stand against SP leader Moeed Khan, accused of gang rape of a minor in Ayodhya district. His illegal construction was demolished with a bulldozer on Saturday. Bahujan Samaj Party's national president Mayawati has termed this action as appropriate.
Mayawati said in an ex-post on Saturday that the strict action being taken by the Uttar Pradesh government against the accused in the Ayodhya gangrape case is appropriate, but what should be understood by SP's statement that the accused should undergo DNA test. Whereas SP should also tell how many DNA tests have been conducted against such accused in their government.
Mayawati said that the incidents in Ayodhya and Lucknow are extremely sad and worrying amidst the growing concerns about crime control and law and order in the state, especially about women's safety and harassment. It would be better if the government takes strict steps to prevent these incidents by rising above caste, community and politics.
Earlier, SP national president Akhilesh Yadav had said in an X post that the way for justice should be found by conducting DNA tests of all those accused in this misdeed and not by doing politics by merely making allegations. Whoever is guilty should be given full punishment according to the law, but if the allegations are proved false after the DNA test, then the government officials involved should also not be spared. This is the demand of justice.
On the other hand, local SP MP Awadhesh Prasad said that as far as this incident is concerned, it is extremely painful and shameful. All the people involved in this incident should be investigated. The truth should be found out and whoever is guilty should be punished with full force. As far as the victim is concerned, our party stands completely with the victim. It is unfortunate that the BJP is doing politics on this. MP Prasad said that he humbly requests such people that this is not the moment for politics. Innocents should not be implicated and DNA test should be done. The victim should also be helped financially.
