Accused of stealing purses and mobiles of passengers in Rapti Ganga and Lucknow-Chandigarh Express arrested

Moradabad, June 25 (HS). Station in-charge of Government Railway Police Station Rajan Sharma said that Raja son Shakeel, resident of Meena Nagar Jayantipur of Police Station Majhola area, accused of stealing purses, mobiles, cash etc. of railway passengers in Rapti Ganga Express and Lucknow Chandigarh Express, was arrested on Tuesday. 10110 rupees and a stolen mobile phone were recovered from the arrested accused. 9 cases are registered against accused Raja in various police stations.

GRP Inspector Rajan Sharma told that on 4th June, while travelling from Dehradun Railway Station to Shahjahanpur Railway Station on seat number 2 of coach number B2 of Rapti Ganga Express, when the train reached Moradabad Railway Station, passenger Vaishali Mishra's bag was stolen, which contained two ATMs of two banks, a gold diamond ring, smart watch, watch charger, iPhone charger, PAN card, Aadhar card, driving license, voter ID card, pen drive, small hand bag and cash of about Rs. 5000. In relation to which the GRP police station had registered a case. Last month on 19th May, while travelling from Lucknow to Chandigarh in train number 12231 Lucknow Chandigarh Express, when the train reached Moradabad Railway Station, the purse of the wife of passenger Manish Pippal was stolen. In which there were about 22 to 23 thousand rupees, some medicines worth about 3 to 4 thousand and a mobile. In this matter also the GRP police station had registered a case.

As part of the campaign being run by Superintendent of Police, Railway, Moradabad, Ashutosh Shukla, under the close supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Railway, Devidayal and under the leadership of Inspector Incharge of GRP police station, Rajan Sharma, on the information of an informer, on Tuesday afternoon, the accused Raja was arrested from the cement sheet near the sign board, Bareilly side, on platform number 4/5 of railway station Moradabad. A stolen mobile phone worth Rs 10110 was recovered from the accused. Accused Raja confessed to committing both the above thefts. Upon strict interrogation, the accused said that I am a drug addict. To fulfill my hobby and drug addiction, I take advantage of the crowd in trains and steal people's bags, mobiles and ladies purses.

The arresting team included GRP police station sub-inspector Sarvesh Kumar and Vishan Singh, head constable Arundeep Singh, RPF ASI Gajendra Singh and head constable Pawanish Kumar.
