Accused of raping Dalit minor gets 20 years imprisonment, fine of Rs 1 lakh

Jaunpur, 19 November (HS). The court of Additional Sessions Judge (POCSO) Umesh Kumar on Tuesday found the youth accused of rape on the pretext of marriage guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

According to the prosecution story, the victim registered a case at Chandwak police station that her elder father had a copy book shop. On which Pankaj Maurya, son of Mahendra, resident of Vishunpur, Bajrang Nagar police station Chandvak was visiting. Due to which he got acquainted. Two years ago, on the pretext of marriage, by changing the name and age in the Aadhaar card, he took her to a hotel in Banaras and raped her several times and also made photographs and videos.

On the basis of which he used to blackmail. When she became pregnant, she was forcefully given medicine and got an abortion. When Pankaj and his family went to her house to talk about marriage, he beat her and broke her mobile phone and Pankaj threatened to kill her. After examining the statements of the witnesses and the evidence available on the file examined by Special Public Prosecutor Rajesh Kumar Upadhyay, the court found accused Pankaj Maurya guilty of raping a Dalit girl and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Punished with fine.
