Accused gets life imprisonment in old lady's murder case

The judge of the District and Sessions Court, Chittorgarh, sentenced the accused to life imprisonment in the case of murdering an old woman and cutting her leg to rob her silver bangles about two years ago in the Kotwali police station area of ​​Chittorgarh city. The court sentenced the accused considering the statements of witnesses and documentary evidence as the main evidence.

Public Prosecutor Sureshchandra Sharma said that Chandibai, wife of Pratap Salvi, a resident of Diwakar Nagar in Chamtikheda of Chittorgarh city, was murdered on 26 July 2022. Chandibai was alone in her house. During this time, the accused Rakesh Chamar entered the house. Here he killed Chandi Bai and cut her legs to rob the silver chains worn on her feet. He was about to run away after removing the silver chains when Ambalal, the son of the deceased, came to the house to get grass. When he entered the room, the accused pushed him and started running. Ambalal lost his balance due to this. When the applicant looked in the room, his mother had died. On this, when he came out and started, the people around gathered on the spot.

The accused Rakesh Chamar had hidden himself in the bathroom on the roof of a house in the colony. Badrilal's cousin also saw him fleeing. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and nabbed the accused. In this regard, the applicant Ambalal son of Pratap Salvi had registered a case in the Kotwali police station. The police registered a case under various sections including murder and investigated the matter. A challan was presented in the court against the accused Rakesh son of Badrilal Chamar, a resident of Chandgarh in the Badliyas police station area of ​​​​Bhilwara district. During the hearing of the case, 52 documents were displayed in the court on behalf of the prosecution and statements of 17 witnesses were recorded.

The court considered the statements of the applicant Ambalal and his other relative as important. The testimony of the shopkeeper from where the accused had bought the weapon was also important in this case. Along with this, the witness also provided the footage of the CCTV camera installed at his shop. In this case, Judge Mahendra Singh of the District and Sessions Court, Chittorgarh held the accused guilty of murder. The accused was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 25,000 under section 302 and 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 under section 455.
