Jaunpur, July 13 (HS). Taking major action on Saturday in the murder case of journalist Ashutosh Srivastava, Deputy District Magistrate Shahganj has suspended the accountant.
In this case, the Deputy District Magistrate Shahganj said that during the tenure of the post of Lekhpal of Sabarhat village, against Lekhpal Vikas Singh, Gata number 1037 old Gata number 1866 of the said village, which is recorded as a pond. No action was taken by the Lekhpal on hiding Gata number 1866 pond in the allotment proposal and complaining through social media about Gata numbers 1816 and 1037 circulated on 18 February 2023 by the deceased Ashutosh Srivastava.
He informed that while taking departmental action in the case of allegation of not taking action on the complaint regarding occupation of land by land mafia on the land registered as lime kiln of the said village, a charge sheet was issued, a copy of which was received by Vikas Singh Lekhpal on 15 June 2024 and the reply to the charge sheet was submitted on 06 July 2024. The reply of Vikas Singh Lekhpal was not found satisfactory. Due to the seriousness of the case and the working style of the said Lekhpal, the image of the revenue administration Tehsil Shahganj has been tarnished in the minds of the general public and dissatisfaction and resentment prevails in village Sabrahadd.
He said that Vikas Singh showed extreme negligence in government work, due to which public peace was disturbed in village Sabrahadd. Considering the seriousness of the allegation, Vikas Singh Lekhpal has been suspended with immediate effect.
Journalist Ashutosh's brother on Saturday along with social organizations demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder and took out a procession. On this occasion, a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister was handed over to the SDM and it was demanded that strict action be taken against those involved in this murder.
