Mumbai, 29 September (HS). Four workers died in an accident that took place while unloading glass items from a container at a glass factory located at Yevlewadi in Kondhwa in Pune district on Sunday afternoon. Three workers were injured in this incident. Everyone is being treated in a nearby hospital.
Mansingh Patil, senior police inspector of Kondhwa police station, said that the glass items had arrived in a container at the glass company located in Yevlewadi. This item was so heavy that a total of seven workers were unloading the glass items. Suddenly the heavy glass fell on the workers and broke. As soon as information about this incident was received, the fire brigade team reached the spot and with the help of a crane, the heavy glass part was removed and the workers were taken out. Vikas Kumar (23), Pawan Kumar (43), Dharmendra Kumar (40) and Amit Kumar (27) died in the incident while Pintu Irakal (30) and two others were injured. The condition of one more laborer remains critical. All four bodies have been sent to Sassoon Hospital for post-mortem.
Kondhwa Fire Brigade chief Sameer Sheikh said that the container contained 10×7 feet glass. While the workers were unloading the glass, this heavy glass had fallen on the workers. After receiving information about the incident, we reached the spot and took out the workers with the help of cranes and rescue equipment.
