Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said that necessary guidelines have been issued by the Election Commission of India for accessible voting of disabled voters. To fulfill the objective of facilitating their voting process, all concerned officials should ensure compliance with the instructions of the Commission. It is the duty and right of all election officials to provide accessible voting opportunity to all disabled voters. These things were said by the Chief Electoral Officer in a meeting held on Monday with all the Divisional Commissioners, officials of Social Welfare Department, Social Security Department, School Education Department related to accessibility of elections and availability of assured minimum facilities.

Kumar said that in view of the upcoming assembly elections, all the officials should prepare action plans in their duty area and ensure their compliance. He said that arrangements for minimum facilities like running water, toilets, ramps, drinking water, electricity etc. should be ensured for the voters at the polling stations in compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

In the meeting, through video conferencing, Divisional Commissioners of all divisions, officials of Social Welfare Department, Social Security Department, School Education Department, including Joint Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, OSD Geeta Choubey, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Dev Das Dutta from the Chief Electoral Office were present. , Under Secretary Sunil Kumar was present.
