For this, about Rs 20 crore will be spent on river channelization and dredging at Sangam Nose in the financial year 2024-25. For this, the Irrigation and Water Resources Department has geared up. Its in-principle consent has also been taken from the government.
It is known that due to continuous erosion, the land available on the Sangam bank has reduced by 60 percent as compared to 2019. Due to this, on the basis of consultation by the experts of IIT Guwahati, the fair administration and the Irrigation and Water Resources Department are taking necessary action.

From 2019 to 2024, the Ganga river has shifted towards its right bank by about 200 to 500 metres. Due to continuous erosion, the land available on the Sangam bank has reduced by 60 percent from the 2019 level. A number of works are proposed by the Irrigation Department to increase the circulating area from Shastri Bridge to Sangam Nose on the right bank of river Ganga as per the consultation given by experts from IIT Guwahati.
