Kanpur, September 12 (HS). Police pressure was increasing on alleged journalist Abhishek Sharma alias Yuva, who was absconding in a case of extortion. The police team was constantly raiding his house, his close friends and other places to search for him. Seeing the increasing pressure of the police, he surrendered in the court on Thursday and was sent to jail in police custody.

Barra-2 resident Abhishek Sharma alias Yuva used to call himself a journalist and used to show his power in the area. He was often in the news among journalists and politicians. Two cases of extortion were registered against Abhishek in Barra police station and one case under SC/ST Act in Hanumant Vihar police station. Apart from this, he was also accused of occupying a land in Hanumant Vihar police station area by putting up a board. After three cases were registered, Abhishek went underground and absconded. On this, the police was continuously raiding his house and the houses of his close ones to arrest him. On this, he left the city and sometimes his location was found in Delhi and sometimes in Jhansi or Varanasi. The police was constantly following him on the basis of location and seeing the promptness of the police, Abhishek surrendered in the court on Thursday in the Barra extortion case. After this, Abhishek was sent to jail in police custody. Barra police station in-charge TB Singh has confirmed Abhishek's surrender. The police will soon file a charge sheet in all three cases.
