Abhishek Kumar, resident of Nawada district, has brought glory to his family and the entire state by securing 102nd rank in the Civil Services Examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This success of Abhishek is also special because after his engineering studies and a brilliant career in IIT, he chose the difficult path of serving the country. It is the result of his hard work and dedication that today he is standing on the threshold of being selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Journey from Nawada to Delhi and then to IIT

Abhishek Kumar’s early education took place in his native village and district. Abhishek, who was brilliant since childhood, on the strength of hard work first passed the entrance examination of IIT and obtained B.Tech degree from the prestigious institute of the country. It was during his engineering days that the idea of ​​doing something big for the society came to his mind. Although, he had offers in the corporate sector with packages worth lakhs, he rejected those luxuries and moved to Delhi to prepare for UPSC.

UPSC preparation: Don’t give up after failure in first attempt

Abhishek’s path to success was not so easy. He told that patience is the biggest key in the journey of UPSC. In his first attempt he did not get the success he wanted, but he recognized his shortcomings and worked on them. Abhishek mainly focused on self-study and answer writing. According to him, his engineering background helped him understand the subjects logically, which benefited him at every stage of the examination.

Abhishek has given the credit of his success to his parents and teachers. He says that there is no dearth of talent among the youth of Bihar, they just need the right direction and continuity. Abhishek’s dream is to become a police officer who is accessible to the general public and can further strengthen law and order with modern technology.
