Moradabad, 04 November (HS). To get rid of the stray dogs roaming on the streets and to control the dog population, the Municipal Corporation is constructing Animal Birth Control Center i.e. ABC Center at Mainather police station. Its construction will be completed by the end of this month. Additional Municipal Commissioner Ajay Yadav said that the tender process for selecting the agency to carry out sterilization in the center has been completed by the Municipal Corporation. The process of selecting the agency will be completed soon.
Stray dogs roaming on the roads in the district not only attack people, but road accidents also happen every day due to dogs. During summer, 100 to 150 cases of dog bites are reported every day. The ABC Center being built in Manather area will have space for 400 dogs at a time. Abandoned dogs will be caught and brought to the center and they will be made unconscious by giving anesthesia. They will be sterilized. Then these dogs will be looked after at the center for a week. After this, the dogs will be released in the same locality from where they were picked up. These days, the process of catching and sterilizing stray dogs has come to a standstill in the city. Two months ago, the designated sterilization agency had canceled its tender. Since then the entire process of sterilization has come to a standstill.
