New Delhi, July 16 (HS). USA international Aaron Jones, who displayed his strong batting in the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup, was bought by St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League 2024 draft on Monday. He joined the team as a local player due to his Barbados passport.
All six teams had already selected the majority of their players through signings and retentions long before draft day, when the rest of the team was complete. The Kings also selected Khari Campbell, Johan Jeremiah, Mikel Govea, and Akeem Auguste in the draft.
On the other hand, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots selected Kyle Mayers as their first pick in the draft followed by Mikail Lewis, Ryan John and Veerasammy Permaul.
Matthew Nandu joins defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors, who also picked the all-round pair of Ramon Reifer and Ronaldo Alimohamed to complete their squad.
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, the newest team in the CPL, picked five players in the draft – Roshon Primus, Justin Greaves, Jahmar Hamilton, Teddy Bishop and Kofi James – while Trinbago Knight Riders picked only two players, including emerging players Nathan Edwards and Shaker Parris.
The Barbados Royals only had three spots to fill in their squad, which were accomplished by selecting Kadeem Alleyne, Isaiah Thorne and Nathan Sealy in the draft.
The 2024 edition of the CPL is scheduled to begin on August 29, with the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons taking on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
