On 8 May 2025, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand including Delhi-NCR. The capital Delhi has been camping at the clouds since morning and by noon it started raining, due to which there was a huge drop in temperature.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the active western disturbance, there may be strong thunderstorms and rain in the states of North India. Alert for moderate to heavy rain has been issued in Delhi in the next 24 hours. Also, there can be problems of waterlogging and traffic jams in many areas.
Weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand-Aaj ka Mausam
Light to moderate rains are likely in other cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Meerut, Agra in Uttar Pradesh. Hail growth can also be seen in some places in the state.
At the same time, heavy rains are expected in the hilly areas like Dehradun, Mussoorie, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri and Chamoli in Uttarakhand. A warning of landslides and debris falling on the roads has also been issued in the mountainous areas.
IMD has advised the public to be vigilant and said that during the rains, take care while getting out of the house. Avoid trips in the hilly areas and do not go around rivers.
