The decision was taken due to the problem of Bangladeshi infiltrators
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Told in a press conference that this step has been taken keeping in mind the increasing incidents of Bangladeshi infiltration. He said, “In the last two months, Assam Police, Tripura Police and bsf Has arrested hundreds of Bangladeshi infiltrators. This is a matter of serious concern for us. To stop this infiltration we have to strengthen our system. For this reason, it has been decided to make the process of issuing Aadhaar card stricter.”
New system for Aadhaar verification
After the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister announced that for Aadhaar card verification Department of General Administration Will be made the nodal agency. In addition, every district has a Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Will be given this responsibility.
After applying for Aadhar Card, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Will send it to the state government for verification. after this Local Circle Officer (CO) Will check whether the applicant or his parents/family has applied for NRC or not.
Aadhaar application will be rejected without NRC
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that if a person or his family has not applied for NRC, the Aadhaar card request will be immediately rejected. Along with this, a report in this regard will also be submitted to the Central Government.
He said, “If it is found that the application for NRC was made, the circle officers will conduct field-level verification under the directions of the Supreme Court. Aadhaar card will be issued only after verification.”
Central employees will get relief
