Some changes are coming for the security of the account holders of National Pension System i.e. NPS and their transactions. According to PFRDA, Aadhaar verification of NPS account will be mandatory from April 1. PFRDA has taken this decision for the protection of NPS investors and stakeholders.
According to PFRDA, the nodal offices of the Center and State as well as their units currently use password log-in to access the website of the Central Inspectorate i.e. CRA for NPS transactions.
To strengthen the security measures of using the CRA system, it has been decided to add an additional security feature in the form of Aadhaar based authentication for log-in to the CRA system. The users of CRA system are currently using ID and password based system.
Circular issued by PFRDA
As stated in the PFRDA circular, this is an important step towards strengthening the entire authentication and log-in process. A new structure has been put in place to create a secure environment for NPS transactions in government offices and its autonomous units. The new log-in process will become effective from April 1, 2024. A detailed SOP with process flow will be provided by all CRAs to all government nodal offices. Nodal officers will also be involved in this process.
