A young man was asked to replace me in '3 Idiots': Aamir Khan

Actor Aamir Khan initially did not want to work in the film '3 Idiots'. The reason behind this was that at the age of 44, he was uncomfortable playing the character of an 18-year-old boy. He was afraid that people would make fun of him. Aamir also suggested the film's director Rajkumar Hirani to cast a young boy in the role. But Hirani did not want anyone other than Aamir to be a part of this film. The result was that Aamir also had to agree with Heera. Aamir himself has said all these things in the current episode of 'The Kapil Sharma Show', where he had gone as a guest. Aamir said, 'I did not want to do 3 Idiots. I was afraid that if I played the character of an 18-year-old boy at the age of 44, people would laugh. I asked Raju to cast only 3 young boys in the film. But they were not satisfied. I had not worked with Raju till then. Although I was a big fan of his. But when they came to me with this story I thought about how I could play the role of a young boy.

Aamir further said, 'I have a line in the film, 'Don't run after success, be worthy of it, success will follow you.' Raju was the brain behind this film. He told me, 'You have done films which were never hits. All these films were flops at the time of announcement, but later became hits. So why did you do these films, you did not do films thinking that they would be hits. This was your passion, that's why you did these films. Only if you do this you will be successful. Then I felt that Raju is a great director. I don't sign any film until I am confident. But this was the first time that I signed this film without thinking.
