Shimla, 18 August (HS). A 23-year-old youth died after falling from the fourth floor of IGMC Medical Girls College in the capital Shimla on Saturday midnight under mysterious circumstances. The deceased youth has been identified as Karan Patial, a resident of Palampur in Kangra district. He was a student of a private university located in Solan district. The reasons for the accident have not been revealed. The Sadar police station of Shimla has taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
The youth reaching the fourth floor at midnight has also raised questions on the security arrangements of the girls' hostel. MBBS students are staying in this hostel.
After the brutality with a female trainee doctor in a medical college in Kolkata, the whole country is in turmoil and doctors are protesting. In such a situation, questions are being raised on how this young man entered the girls hostel of IGMC, which is considered safe, at night. There are strong security arrangements in the girls hostel. Apart from this, CCTV cameras are also installed in the hostel premises to keep an eye on unruly elements. Still the young man entered the hostel and became a victim of the incident.
It is also being suspected that the young man had come to meet a girl living in the hostel and jumped from the fourth floor out of fear of being caught. Due to which he died on the spot. Anyway, Shimla police has started investigating the whole case. When the sound of the young man falling was heard at midnight, the local people informed the police about it. Police took the young man to IGMC for treatment in 108 ambulance, but the doctors declared him dead.
A police officer said that the youth died due to falling. The post-mortem of the body is being done. The reason for the youth entering the girls' hostel is also being investigated. The youth was studying in a private university.
