Mumbai: Two young men from Andheri were riding their bike across the Andheri flyover when a speeding vehicle hit their bike, killing 19-year-old Vivek Yadav who was thrown off the bike and fell off the flyover. His friend Aman Yadav was seriously injured in the incident. He suffered head injuries and multiple fractures and was rushed to a hospital where he is being treated. The accident took place near Gundavali metro station.
After the incident, a group of cyclists were passing by at around 6 am when they saw Aman injured on the bridge and rushed him to the hospital for further treatment. However, the deceased Vivek was nowhere to be seen. As soon as he fell, the cyclists lost sight of him.
In this regard, according to Andheri's local ACP Dr. Sosle, Vivek and Aman both lived in the same area in Andheri (E). Early Saturday morning, when both of them were passing over the Gundavali flyover on a bike, an unknown vehicle hit their bike and Vivek jumped off the flyover and fell 35 feet down. He was seriously injured in this incident. While Aman fell on the flyover and suffered serious head injuries and multiple fractures. Vivek suffered serious injuries after the incident and was admitted to Cooper Hospital, where he died around 10 am on Saturday. In this regard, a cyclist told that due to the absence of barricading or safety wall on the flyover, Vivek jumped off the bike and fell 35 feet down. Apart from this, since the street lights also go off early in the morning, both the youths might not have noticed the unknown vehicles passing by on the bike.
In this regard, Andheri police have registered a case against the unidentified driver under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) and 338 (negligent driving causing death by negligence) and are carrying out further investigation.
