Morena, June 22 (HS). A rural youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the ravines of Chambal. Police was informed about the body found during search late Friday night. The family members have accused the police and a youth of the village of pressurizing them. The police says that the statement of the deceased Harveer Kewat was to be recorded in the inquest. For this, the police had served the summons two days ago. On Saturday morning, the body of the youth was taken down from the tree and taken for postmortem. The police is engaged in further proceedings.
Dharmendra Rawat, a resident of village Chinnoni Chambal under Chinnoni police station area of the district, was bathing in Chambal when he drowned. Harveer Kewat of the village was also present on the spot. This incident is about four months old. Chinnoni police station has started investigation by registering a case on the death of Dharmendra Rawat. Harveer Kewat's statement was to be recorded in this, but he was not reaching the police station. Two days ago, the police officer posted at Chinnoni police station served the case to Harveer's father Gopal Kewat. On the second day, i.e. yesterday, Harveer left the house in the morning to defecate and did not return till late evening, then the family members searched for him. He was found hanging from a tree in the ravine, late at night the family members informed the police about it. Today morning, the police reached the spot, took down the body and brought it to Kailaras for postmortem. After the postmortem was done here in the afternoon, the body was handed over to the family members. Chinnoni police station has started investigation by registering a case.
The family members say that they were being asked to give a statement to the police, but they were not agreeing. On the death of Harveer Singh, father Gopal Kewat accused Pappu, a youth from the same village, that he was pressurizing some other village youth to give a statement against Harveer in the case of deceased Dharmendra Rawat. Pappu had been continuously pressurizing since Holi to issue a statement against the youth of the village. The police officer who came two days ago came to the house and threatened that if he did not come to the police station and give a statement, he would get the house dug up. The deceased's brother Puran Singh Kewat supported this and said that Harveer probably got scared of the police threat. He left in the morning and did not return till night. In this case, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Bhadauria of Morena District Police Headquarters said that the allegations of the family members are not justified. Harveer's statement was to be recorded in the inquest, for which he was not appearing at the police station.
The police had served his name to his father. The police will investigate this matter thoroughly as to whether Harveer Singh committed suicide. But it is certain that the police did not put any kind of pressure on Harveer and his family.
