The year 2024 is about to bid farewell with its sour and sweet memories, while 2025 is being eagerly awaited all over the world. New Zealand and Australia are among those countries where the New Year arrived first. After this, Pakistan and Afghanistan will come after India. Meanwhile, the year 2024 passed like a nightmare for Pakistan, especially for the Pakistani Army.

Huge losses in the fight against terrorism

An Islamabad-based research group has said that in 2024, Pakistani security forces will lose the most lives fighting terrorism in the last decade. A total of 444 terrorist attacks took place across Pakistan this year, killing an average of seven people per day. This report has come out at a time when Pakistan’s tension with the Taliban government is at its peak.

attacks on security posts

The report of the Center for Research and Security Studies said that this year was the deadliest for Pakistani security forces in the last nine years. “On average, about seven people died per day,” the report said, including “at least 685 deaths and 444 terrorist attacks.”

Recently, TTP terrorists captured a military post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district. A local police officer said that a policeman and a child were killed in the attack, while several others were injured. TTP has carried out terrorist attacks targeting security forces across the country.

Increasing attacks and security situation

Abdullah Khan, managing director of the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, said there is a 40% increase in terrorist attacks in 2024. “This year, authorities have killed 950 terrorists, while 527 security forces and 489 civilians have been killed in terrorist attacks,” he said.

Thus, the year 2024 in Pakistan has been extremely challenging from the perspective of terrorism and loss of security forces, and now all eyes are on the next year to see if the situation will improve.
