Kasganj Incident: A major accident took place in Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. A tractor trolley loaded with devotees going for full moon bath overturned in the lake in Kasganj district. More than a dozen people are reported to have died after a tractor-trolley overturned.
It is being told that the tractor trolley was filled with more than 40 devotees and all the people were going to take bath at Kadarganj Ganga Ghat in the tractor trolley on the day of Maghi Purnima. The driver reached Gadhai village on Riavganj Patiali road with the devotees on a tractor.
It is being told that due to the high speed of the tractor, the driver lost control and the uncontrollable tractor fell into the lake on the roadside. The trolley overturned after the tractor fell into the lake. The people traveling in the trolley were crushed when it overturned.
As soon as information about the incident was received, a large number of villagers from the surrounding areas came and pulled the drowned people out of the lake and informed the police. On receiving information, police reached the spot and started rescue operations. The seriously injured people were pulled out of the lake and taken to hospital.
The Chief Medical Officer informed that on reaching the hospital, 15 people have been confirmed dead while many innocent children, women and elderly people are injured. The injured are being treated while rescue operations are still underway to search for those who drowned in the lake.
According to initial information, the deceased were residents of Etah district. Women and innocent children are also included among those who died. CMO Rajeev Aggarwal said that 15 people have died. Others are undergoing treatment. Senior officials of the district are investigating the incident site and are talking to the injured after reaching the hospital and getting information about the incident.
After receiving information about the accident, CM Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased and directed to give Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured and proper free treatment.
