Samba, April 25 (Hindustan Reporter) The wheat crop standing in Tehsil Rajpura, the border area of the district, suddenly caught fire on Thursday. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained. Due to the strong wind, there is a possibility that some spark may have flown there and may have set the crop on fire.
Farm owner Gyan Singh and former sarpanch Ram Dhan told that this caused a loss of lakhs. As soon as summer arrives, incidents of fire have started. These days the wheat crop is standing ready in the fields. In such a situation, the concern of farmers has increased. On Thursday, a fire broke out in a field in Padte village under Rajpura. Due to this, almost several wheat crops standing in the fields were burnt and destroyed.
According to information received from sources, smoke suddenly started coming out from the fields of village Madun of border area Tehsil Rajpura in the afternoon. When people reached there, flames were rising. Seeing the fire, people made noise. The fire also engulfed the nearby fields. Due to this, the wheat crop standing in the field also started burning. The farm owners tried to extinguish the fire with the help of local people. Later, people saved the rest of the crop with their bravery.
The fire brigade was also informed about this. By the time the fire brigade team reached there, the local people had controlled the fire. Due to the wisdom of the local people, many canals of wheat were saved from burning. Local people said that due to the strong wind, there is a possibility that some spark may have flown there and may have caused the crop to catch fire. The farm owners said that they have suffered a loss worth lakhs.
