An uncontrolled speeding truck brutally crushed a crowd of people and pedestrians walking on the roadside near Jariagarh market under Karra police station area of Khunti district. In this horrific road accident, 7 members of the same family died tragically on the spot, while many other people are said to be seriously injured. After the incident, there is mourning in the entire area and there is huge anger among the local villagers. This gruesome accident, which happened during the festive season of Diwali, has shocked the entire state and created panic in the administrative department.

The government has announced to provide immediate financial assistance and compensation to the families of the deceased, and instructions have been given to provide the best treatment to the injured at government expense. Police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving and culpable homicide against the accused truck driver under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). To search for the absconding truck driver, the police have blocked nearby police stations and have taken the truck into their custody. This tragic accident has once again exposed the unruly speed and safety standards on the country’s roads.
