A historic meeting is going to be held today in Kazan city of Russia. The whole world including America is watching. In this meeting, the heads of state of two giants of Asia are going to sit at the same table and hold formal talks after 5 years. A bilateral meeting is going to be held today between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. This meeting is important in many ways amid the ongoing war between different countries amid huge turmoil around the world.
This meeting between Xi Jinping and PM Modi took place earlier at the BRICS summit held in Brazil in 2019 and now both the leaders will meet at the BRICS summit in 2024. Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry has confirmed the bilateral talks between the two leaders in a press conference in Kazan city of Russia. Mistry said that the meeting between the two Presidents will take place during the BRICS summit on October 23. However, the timing will be decided on Wednesday only.
Strong answer to Five Eyes
Canada has been making baseless allegations against India for the last few days. In which many Five Eyes member countries including the United States have also got support in this. This meeting between Xi Jinping and PM Modi is also being seen as a strong reaction against the Five Eyes Group. Let us tell you here that if relations with China improve, India's dependence on good relations with western countries will reduce to a great extent.
Both countries started patrolling
This meeting is taking place between the two countries today after a new agreement was reached between India and China regarding patrolling on LAC in Eastern Ladakh. On the LAC in eastern Ladakh, India and China have agreed to withdraw their forces from Demchok and Depsang and resume regular patrolling in the area, Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry said in a statement. He said that the armies of both the countries have started patrolling and the process of withdrawal of troops will also start in the coming days.
China also on Tuesday confirmed a military agreement with India to reduce tensions along the LAC. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that a proposal has been agreed on relevant issues and we will work with India to implement these proposals.
