Usually this disease can be spread by Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti and Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus, dengue mosquitoes. These mosquitoes bite mainly in daylight. These mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water. When a common mosquito bites a person who already has CHIKV in his blood, the virus is also transferred to the mosquito. When this mosquito bites a new person, that person can also get infected with Chikungunya.

Symptoms of Chikungunya

Onset of CHIKV disease typically occurs 4–8 days (range 2–12 days) after the bite of a Chikungunya mosquito.

In this, suddenly high fever occurs.

There may also be severe pain in the joints.

It usually lasts for a few days, but it can last for weeks, months, or even years.

Other common symptoms include joint swelling, muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue, and rash.
