News India Live, Digital Desk: There was chaos in the Vikas Nagar area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday when a massive fire suddenly broke out in the Hussainiya slum. The fire was so terrible that dozens of huts were burnt to ashes within no time. The most horrifying scene of this accident was seen when the LPG cylinders kept in the slums started exploding one after the other. The entire area was shaken by the echo of the explosions and a plume of black smoke was seen in the sky from several kilometers away.

Explosions shook Vikas Nagar, people ran to save their lives

According to eyewitnesses, within minutes of the fire, at least 3 to 4 gas cylinders kept in the slums exploded. Due to these explosions, the fire took a huge form and engulfed other nearby slums as well. The flames were so high that people did not even get a chance to recover. People ran towards the streets to save their lives, carrying their children and whatever belongings they could get their hands on. As soon as information about the incident was received, several fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and started trying to control the fire.

Goods worth lakhs burnt to ashes, relief work underway

In this fire, the savings and houses of the poor laborers have been completely destroyed. Due to the scorching heat and strong winds, firefighters had to put in a lot of effort to extinguish the fire. As a precautionary measure, the police administration has sealed the surrounding roads so that there is no hindrance in the rescue work. Although there has been no official confirmation of any loss of life yet, the economic loss is said to be huge. The exact cause of the fire is being investigated, primarily linked to a short circuit or a spark while cooking.

Is the negligence of the administration costing dearly?

The incidents of fire in crowded areas and slums of Lucknow are not showing any signs of decreasing. This incident in Vikas Nagar once again puts a question mark on the security arrangements. Due to narrow streets, it takes a lot of time for fire brigade vehicles to reach the spot, due to which the scope of damage increases. Local residents say that if safety standards had been followed in time and illegally stored cylinders had been controlled, perhaps today so many families would not have lost their roof.
