A big and sensational news is coming out from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, where a massive fire suddenly broke out on Tuesday morning in a temporary labor camp built near Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The fire was so terrible that its high flames and the plume of black smoke were clearly visible up to a distance of about two kilometers, seeing which there was a lot of chaos in the surrounding area. During this major accident, hundreds of laborers present in the camp somehow saved their lives by running away, however, news of two laborers being injured in this accident has come to light. This sudden incident of fire created panic among the administrative staff and relief and rescue work was started immediately. Let us know in detail about this entire incident and the circumstances of the occasion.
According to the information received, a large three-storey temporary labor camp was built outside the airport premises to accommodate the laborers working in the ongoing development works and construction projects at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. There were about 33 rooms in this camp and in total about 500 laborers worked here in different shifts. On Tuesday morning, when most of the workers were busy in their daily activities, suddenly a fire broke out in a part of the camp. It is being told that this camp was mainly made of PVC panels and other inflammable materials, due to which the fire took a huge form in just a few minutes and engulfed the entire building. Within no time, the flames became so strong that a huge plume of black smoke covered the sky, which was seen by people passing by from several kilometers away.
After this sudden incident of fire, there was an outcry among the laborers working in and around the camp. The fortunate thing is that as soon as the fire was detected, the security personnel and alert workers immediately showed their wisdom and started evacuating about 500 workers present in the camp safely. According to initial investigation and statements of eyewitnesses, some people inside the barracks were engaged in cooking or other work when the accident occurred. During this rush and rescue operation, two laborers suffered minor injuries and burn injuries, who were immediately taken to the nearest hospital for first aid. If all the workers had not been evacuated in time, the incident could have turned into a major tragedy as the fire spread very quickly due to the plastic and PVC panels.
As soon as information about the incident was received, CISF deployed for airport security, police of local Sarojini Nagar police station and several vehicles of Lucknow Fire Department immediately rushed to the spot. The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) and other senior officials reached the spot and took charge and the fire personnel completely controlled the fire after about 30 to 40 minutes of hard work by continuously spraying water. Due to the promptness of the fire department, the fire was successfully prevented from spreading to other sensitive areas nearby or to the main runway and terminal of the airport. After extinguishing the fire, a cooling operation was carried out and efforts are being made to find out whether short circuit or spark from the stove caused the fire to spread so rapidly. This entire matter is being thoroughly investigated by the local administration so that strong security arrangements can be made to deal with such incidents in future.
