A man who survived on artificial respiration for 70 years in an iron box died of lung disease in 1952

Velepol Alexander, who had been living with a new 'iron lung' for 70 years, has died. Alexander Pollio, known as Paul, died at the age of 78. Paul Alexander contracted polio in 1952 at the age of 6. He had to be admitted to a hospital in Texas for treatment of polio. Apart from polio, Alexander had bad lungs and was kept in an iron box (Ironlung). He spent his entire life in this box.

This is why the world calls him 'The Man in the Aryan Lung'. According to the information received, he breathed his last inside this machine on March 12. Paul Alexander, born in 1946, was paralyzed from the neck down due to polio. He couldn't even breathe. 600 pounds of iron was placed inside the machine for breathing. It is a type of ventilator in which the body is inside the machine while only the face is outside. At that time, a machine like an iron box was used for respiratory patients.

This machine proved to be a boon especially for those people whose lungs had stopped functioning. He lived for 7 decades by breathing with the help of this machine. Paul was the only person to live in this machine, built in 1928. Although a second machine was found, Paul decided to stay in the first machine. Despite his lungs being tired, he was able to breathe only with the help of this machine.

Had organized his life according to the machine. The basic mantra of his life was to never give up in any situation. Paul's wisdom and courage were an inspiration to those who got upset over small things. While working in the Iron Machine, he not only studied but also taught the children. Paul's brother Philip announced the death and thanked everyone who donated for his brother's treatment. He thanked everyone for making the last few years of his life stress-free.
