A farmer troubled by debt in Firozpur committed suicide, his body was found in Sirhand Canal.

Firozpur: The body of a farmer has been recovered from Sirhand Canal near Faridkot. Gurlabh Singh, son of farmer Sukhchain Singh, resident of village Mahalam, has lodged a complaint at Ghal Khurd police station. According to him, his father Sukhchain Singh was troubled due to debt. His father often went to serve at Gurdwara Jamani Sahib but left home on October 18 and did not return. When they got information through social media, the family members went to Sarhand feeder canal near village Bhai Ka Wada and found their motorcycle, watch and shoes lying there.

The family feared that Sukhchain Singh might have jumped into the canal. After several days of search, the body of Sukhchain Singh was found in Sirhand Canal near Faridkot. The son of the deceased told that his father had taken a lot of loan from the bank and Aarti, due to which he was upset and due to this he committed suicide.
