Kathua, July 29 (HS). Due to lack of proper drainage, rainwater is entering the houses of the local people of Ward No. 6 of Kathua instead of the drains, due to which people are facing problems during the rainy season.
The people of ward number 6, under the leadership of former president of Nagar Parishad Kathua, Naresh Sharma, reached the office of EO Kathua regarding this problem where they apprised him of the problem. The local people said that before the onset of rainy season, the Nagar Parishad did not get the drains cleaned in their ward. Drains are broken and clogged in many places due to which whenever it rains, the water does not enter the drains and enters the houses.
Former Chairman of Municipal Council, Naresh Sharma said that at present, the condition of Kathua city has gone from bad to worse. He said that every year during the rainy season 30 more employees were recruited who looked after the cleaning work during the rainy season. But now there are 21 wards and the employees are less than before. Due to this, the condition of the city has become bad as the Municipal Council does not have sufficient sanitation workers. He said that the condition is not only bad in ward 6, the streets of the wards of the entire city are broken, drains are broken, drains are clogged at many places, street lights are out of order, but there is no one to look after it.
He said that the district administration holds meetings regarding development but people are not getting facilities at the ground level. He said that at present the chairman of the Municipal Council is DC Kathua and he should also take cognizance of the condition of the city.
