Ranchi, June 16 (HS). Police has arrested Naresh Yadav, a criminal who burnt a labourer alive by setting fire in the McCluskieganj police station area of Ranchi. A rifle and three bullets have been recovered from him.
SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha told in a press conference on Sunday that on 28 May, a container truck carrying drill machine of Singh Infrastructure Private Limited Company which was laying fiber cable of BSNL company was standing on the roadside near Dulli Karamkocha Tola on Chama-McCluskiganj Road in the McCluskiganj police station area at night. It was set on fire by unknown anti-social elements. A laborer named Sanjay Bhuiyan was burnt to death in the incident. In this regard, a primary case was registered in McCluskiganj police station on the basis of written application of the company's driver Akhilesh Thakur. In this case, a criminal Naresh Yadav was arrested with weapons from Dulli jungle on the basis of secret information.
During interrogation, the arrested criminal admitted that he and his associates were extorting money from the police station area and the neighbouring border police station areas by threatening people with weapons. Upon strict interrogation, he admitted to committing the arson.
SSP said that during interrogation, arrested Naresh Yadav told that on 13th May, he had gone to the company's site and threatened the labourers and had taken away the driver's mobile. Using the same mobile, he had demanded extortion of Rs. 2 lakhs from the contractor. Finally, it was agreed that the contractor would pay Rs. 20,000. Angered by the contractor's refusal to pay, he, along with his other associates, committed the act of arson.
