Varanasi, 20 September (HS). BJP's Varanasi district president, MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma and other officials on Friday filed a complaint against Congress top leader MP Rahul Gandhi at Sigra police station. In the complaint, displeasure was expressed over Rahul Gandhi's statement regarding the Sikh community in America and a demand was made to register a case against him.
BJP leaders said that we are also hurt along with the Sikh community by the statement of the Congress leader. Rahul Gandhi is the top leader of the Congress and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi gave a statement about the religious freedom of Sikhs in an interview in America. He said that we just have to first understand that the fight is not about politics. Pointing to a Sikh person, Rahul Gandhi said that the fight is about whether being a Sikh, will he be allowed to wear his turban in India? Being a Sikh, will he be allowed to wear a Kada in India? This is a fight not only for them but for all religions. BJP leaders said that there is anger in the Sikh community due to Rahul Gandhi's statement.
BJP District President Hansraj Vishwakarma said that Rahul Gandhi is giving such statements many times in foreign countries. Going abroad and criticizing your own country is very condemnable. The words used by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in America against reservation and Sikh community are against the Constitution. In such a situation, a complaint has been given to register a case against him in Sigra police station. BJP leaders also raised slogans against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Those who submitted the complaint in the police station included Metropolitan President Vidya Sagar Rai, Metropolitan Vice President Ashok Kumar, Sadhana Vedanti, Banaras Bar Association officials etc.
