Khalda: A young man died after being shot with a 12 bore gun during a party organised by his brother to celebrate the arrival of a person from Khalda town. The police have taken the body into custody and registered a case of murder against a couple and their two sons living in Khemkaran. It is being told that the deceased had a quarrel with the alleged accused a year ago and Mohtabar had also settled the matter.

Roop Singh, son of Surata Singh, a resident of Ward 12 of Khemkaran, told the police in his complaint that his brother Dilbagh Singh had died a long time ago and he and Dilbagh Singh's family live in the same house. Late in the evening around 8:30 pm, Khemkaran resident Rajan Sharma, Sajan Sharma, their father Sukhdev Raj and mother Anju Rani came to his house in their Kwid car and kept his nephew Nishan Singh at Gurlal Singh's house in Khalda. Asked him to go to the program.

Nishan Singh also refused but the said people insisted and took him with them. The car riders also had a 12 bore gun at that time. At around 10:30 pm, he received a call from Rajan Sharma's phone that Nishan Singh had been shot in the chest with 12 bore bullets. On which he reached Gurlal Singh's house with his son Jugraj Singh, Jaspal Singh and sister-in-law Beant Kaur, Nishan Singh was lying injured in the courtyard. While no member of Gurlal Singh's family was present in the house.

They took Nishan Singh to a private hospital in Bhikhiwind from where he was referred to Amritsar. When they reached Escort Hospital, the doctors declared him dead. He said in the complaint that his nephew had a quarrel with Rajan Sharma, Sajan Sharma and Sukhdev Raj Sharma about a year ago and the village officials had made him settle the matter. But now the said family has shot and killed Nishan Singh out of malice.

Khalda police station chief inspector Satpal Singh, who reached the spot, said that Sukhdev Raj, his wife Anju Rani and sons Rajan Sharma and Sajan Sharma have been named in the case. The body has been handed over to the heirs after post-mortem.
