According to a Times Now report, agricultural expert Palakshaya had lodged a complaint with the Gubbi police in November 2023, accusing Komal and others of fraud in the name of marriage. The police were after this gang since then. Palakshaya's son Dayanand and Komal got married in October 2023. Palakshaya's friend Basavaraju introduced him to a woman named Lakshmi and told her to be a marriage agent. After the marriage was fixed, Komal went to Palakshaya's house with her friends. Siddappa and Lakshmi Shambhulinga were also present on this occasion. Both of them introduced themselves as Komal's maternal uncle and aunt.

Palakshaya said that he had gone to Hubli and also went to Siddappa's house. There the matter was revealed and their fraud was exposed. Police said that a case of four more marriages by this gang has come to light. Police officials said that Komal was married to a man from Miraj in Maharashtra a few days ago.
