Mumbai: A 21-year-old man who befriended a 13-year-old girl on Instagram was arrested for raping her twice at different places in two states. Apart from this, in another similar case, a social media friend raped a 14-year-old minor in Mumbra. In this case, the police have registered a case against the youth.

According to Mumbai Police, the accused had befriended Sagira through Instagram. The young man worked in a hotel in Goregaon area. After the friendship, the young man took the minor to a place in Andheri and raped her. After this, the 21-year-old accused took the girl to Gujarat and raped her again.

Meanwhile, the family filed a missing complaint of the minor. However, when Sagira returned home after a few days and the family inquired, Sagira showed the accused's photo to her family and told them about the entire incident. When the incident came to light, the family immediately contacted the Vakola police and filed a complaint against the youth.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against the youth under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act and arrested him.

Apart from this, about three months ago, Sagira befriended a young man through social media in Mumbra. After becoming friends, a series of conversations and meetings started between the two. Meanwhile, Sagira was allegedly raped by a social media friend and threatened to kill her family members if she told anyone about it.

Sagira's family had recently shifted to Mumbra. The incident came to light a few days after the incident when Sagira told the family about it. After this, the family contacted the Kapurbawdi police. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Judicial Code and the relevant sections of the POCSO Act. A search operation has been launched in search of the accused in this case.
