Guru Nanak Dev Marriage Anniversary: ​​The marriage anniversary of the first Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Mata Sulakhni Ji will be celebrated with great fervor. This view was expressed by Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Uma Shankar Gupta after reviewing the preparations being made with the officers of the civil and police departments.

The Deputy Commissioner said that there should be no laxity in the preparations being made by the concerned departments in connection with the Nagar Kirtan reaching Batala from Gurdwara Shri Sultanpur Lodhi on September 9, the day of the marriage ceremony on September 10 and a day before that.

He further said that help desks will be set up by the district administration for the convenience of the devotees. Shine boards will be installed keeping in mind the convenience of the pilgrims so that the pilgrims coming from outside do not face any problem.

For the convenience of the congregation, volunteers of the Gurudwara Management Committee will also be appointed, for which he appealed to the committee members present in the meeting to cooperate. He said that a route plan will be prepared with the aim of keeping the traffic in the city smooth, so that no one faces any problem.

He asked the team of Municipal Corporation and Police Department to remove illegal encroachments in the city and especially on the entire route of Nagar Kirtan keeping in mind the convenience of the devotees.

He directed the municipal corporation officials to clean the city as well as remove garbage heaps. He instructed the sewerage department officials to regularly check all the drains in the city and said that no sewerage should remain open.

While giving instructions to the Powercom officials, the Deputy Commissioner said that the electric wires should not be open or loose at any place.

While directing the Public Works Department officers to repair the roads in the city, he said that it should be ensured that the pilgrims coming from abroad do not face any problem.

He gave instructions to the police department officials to manage the traffic smoothly for the convenience of the devotees, so that the devotees do not face any kind of difficulty.

During the meeting, he asked various departments including Health, National Highway, Mandi Board, Corporation, Forest, Fire Brigade, Water Supply and Sanitation, Market Committee to complete the preparations for the wedding ceremony so that the devotees do not face any problem.
