Kolkata Murder Case: On the night of Wednesday, 14th August, women, girls and common people once again came out on the streets in all the districts of Bengal including the capital Kolkata and demanded justice against the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor. Along with this, on the call of the protesting junior doctors, people in Kolkata and districts also protested the incident by switching off the lights of their houses for an hour from 9 to 10 pm on Wednesday night. Due to which most of the areas of Kolkata and other cities were seen immersed in darkness. People protested by switching off the lights and lighting candles.

Governor CV Anand Bose also supported the protest by switching off the lights of Raj Bhavan. A large number of people gathered in front of Victoria, lit candles and raised slogans over the incident.
A large number of candle and torch rallies were also taken out in Kolkata and districts from evening to late night. People were seen gathering at various squares and roads and waving placards with slogans like Justice for RG Kar, Justice for Abhaya. People were very angry.
