Old Pension Receipt Front termed Punjab government budget as “black budget” for NPS employees

Chandigarh: Gurjant Singh Kokri, Co-Convenor Tahil Singh Sarabha, Randeep Singh Fatehgarh Sahib, Kanwaljit Singh Ropar, Darshi Kat Rajpura, Dimple Rohela presented the budget presented by the Punjab Government. Black budget for about 2.5 lakh NPS employees. Accusing the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab, the leaders said that the Aam Aadmi Party government had promised the NPS employees of Punjab before the elections that after the formation of their government, the old pension scheme would be implemented on the NPS employees of Punjab. But the leaders and 2.5 lakh employees were disappointed today as the budget presented by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema did not say a single word about implementing the old pension scheme.

The leaders strongly condemned the Punjab government and said that like the previous governments, the Punjab government is adopting the policy of lax and stinging, while Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and state president Bhagwant Mann are contesting from the Punjab Assembly elections. Are in. Earlier, an election promise was made to the employees of Punjab that after the formation of their government, the NPS pension scheme will be discontinued in Punjab and in its place the defined pension scheme which was running before 01-01-2004 will be implemented. The leaders regretted that even though the Punjab Cabinet decided to restore the old pension scheme for Punjab employees on 21 October 2022 and also issued an incomplete notification on 18 November 2022, the actual situation is that almost one and a half years have passed. Even after this, the decision of the Punjab Council of Ministers has not yet been implemented and the reduction in GP fund of any employee has not started yet.

Apart from this, NPS amount is still being deducted from the salaries of the employees and sent to the stock market. 10% share of 2.5 lakh employees of Punjab and 14% share of the government, which comes to about Rs 5000 crore annually. Giving suggestions to the Punjab Government, the leaders further said that if the deduction of GP fund of the employees is started immediately, then the treasury of the Punjab Government can get a big boost.

At this time, the leaders were told that several meetings had been held with Old Pension Restoration Front Punjab and Old Pension Restoration United Front Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Cabinet Sub Committee members Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. In which he talked about implementing the old pension scheme soon. Now the Punjab government is running away from its notification. The leaders further warned the Punjab government and said that if the old pension scheme is not implemented during the budget, a joint and sharp solution will soon be found.
