Afghanistan: Heavy rain and snowfall caused devastation in Afghanistan, 39 people died; More than 14,000 animals died


Kabul: Heavy rain and snowfall has wreaked havoc in different provinces of Afghanistan. At least 39 people have lost their lives and more than 30 have been injured due to heavy rain and snowfall.

News agency ANI quoted Khama Press as saying that Afghanistan is facing heavy rain and snowfall. The recent heavy snowfall has affected many roads in the states and districts.

Hundreds of houses were destroyed due to rain and snowfall

Disaster Management Ministry spokesperson Janan Sayek said that thousands of animals have also died due to snowfall. He said that 637 residential houses have been completely destroyed due to snowfall and rain. Apart from this, 14,000 animals have also been killed.

Meanwhile, local resident Abdul Qadir said that his life has been badly affected due to heavy rain and snowfall. They have suffered a lot due to this and animals have also been killed. Amanullah, another resident, stressed the urgent need for government assistance. He said that the affected people should be helped as soon as possible.

Salang Highway reopened

It is noteworthy that Salang Highway has been reopened on Monday after the last four days of snowfall and ice storm. Salang Highway was closed due to snowfall and rain.
