New Delhi, September 04 (HS). A recent report by the Center for Democracy, Pluralism and Human Rights has claimed that the US had a direct hand in the student movement that took place in Bangladesh after June 5. It says that the involvement of US diplomats and envoys in Bangladesh had increased even before the student movement. Also, after the change of power, the future of minorities in Bangladesh is now in danger.
The Centre for Democracy, Pluralism and Human Rights released the report on Wednesday, September 4, at the Constitution Club of India. The main objective of this program was to provide detailed information on the ground situation of atrocities on minorities and Hindus in Bangladesh. Former MP and eminent journalist Swapan Dasgupta was the chief guest at the program and Deep Halder, author and journalist of Being Hindu in Bangladesh and renowned journalist and writer Abhijit Majumdar were present as guests of honour.
The new report says that the protests that began on June 05 over the quota issue took the form of a major political movement in which religious minorities were attacked on a large scale. The involvement of the US deep state amplified the gravity and complexity of the problem.
Deep Halder, the chief guest of the program, said that the security that Sheikh Hasina had provided to Hindus in Bangladesh has now ended. Hindus were attacked during her rule too and today there is probably no one to help those minority Hindu families. The global community should monitor the atrocities being committed on the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh and improve their conditions. He said that minorities were also persecuted during the time of Sheikh Hasina government. Madrasa is acting as an organization to spread hatred towards minorities in the minds of youth.
Abhijit Majumdar, the guest of honour at the programme, said that the present situation in Bangladesh is a sign of the failure of the Indian government and the Indian Hindu society. He said that the Indian government did not think of any third option other than BNP and Jamaat and as a result the entire country disintegrated. The way India had established friendship with both the Taliban and the Afghan government, if other options had been considered in Bangladesh too, the situation would not have been so negative.
Dr. Prerna Malhotra said that Islamization has increased so much that the whole country seems to be sitting on a volcano which can explode at any time. This will prove to be extremely fatal for the minorities of Bangladesh. It is clear from the current situation that Bangladesh is completely unsuitable for the living of minority Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Christians and Muslims. If no good steps are taken by various nations and international organizations and institutions, then in the coming time all the minorities including Hindus will slowly be wiped out from Bangladesh.
