Dhananjay Singh found guilty in Jaunpur kidnapping case, punishment to be announced tomorrow

Jaunpur: Former MP Dhananjay Singh and his associate Santosh Vikram were found guilty by Additional Sessions Judge Sharad Tripathi on Tuesday in a case of kidnapping and extortion. The question of punishment will be heard on Wednesday.

Abhinav Singhal, project manager of Namami Gange, resident of Muzaffarnagar, Jaunpur, had lodged an FIR against Dhananjay Singh and his partner Santosh Vikram at Line Bazar police station on 10 May 2020 under sections like kidnapping, extortion and other charges.

It was said that Santosh Vikram along with his two associates kidnapped the plaintiff and took him to the house of the former MP. There Dhananjay Singh pressurized the plaintiff to deliver goods of low quality. When she refused, he threatened her and demanded ransom.

After registering the FIR in the case, the police arrested Dhananjay Singh, although he later got bail. The police had sent the report to the court. While hearing the case on Wednesday, the court found both of them guilty.
