Sources said that out of the 49 names discussed in the CEC meeting regarding Haryana elections, 34 were approved. The party may soon give information about Phogat's possible candidature in the Haryana elections.

Sharing the picture on the X handle, Congress wrote, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia met opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat was an important face of the opposition team of wrestlers in 2023. After a meeting in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi was seen holding the hands of wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia. Due to this, the discussion of his possible candidature in the Haryana assembly elections has gained momentum.

Both the leaders met Rahul Gandhi and indicated their possible participation in the elections. After this, they also met Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal. According to Congress sources, the party has offered election tickets to both the players. Vinesh Phogat has been given the option of three seats, while Bajrang Punia has been offered two seats. However, Congress state in-charge Deepak Babaria said that the final decision rests with Vinesh Phogat and clarification is expected soon.

It is reported that Congress has given three seats to Vinesh Phogat and two seats to Bajrang Punia. However, from which seat Phogat and Punia will contest the assembly elections will be clear only after ticket distribution. Vinesh Phogat has been given three options of Charkhi, Dadri and Julana, while Bajrang Punia has been given two options of Bahadurgarh and Bhiwani.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia has expressed his desire to contest the 2024 assembly elections from Sonipat in Haryana. He had also shown interest in the changed seat of Jhajjar, but the Congress has given Bajrang Punia the option of Bahadurgarh and Bhiwani seats.

In Sonipat, Congress is not in a mood to cut the ticket of sitting MLA Surendra Panwar. However, Panwar is in jail in the ED case. If his ticket is cut, his son or daughter-in-law can be made to contest the election. On the other hand, the name of outgoing Congress MLA Kuldeep Vats is almost finalised for the replacement seat of Jhajjar. Congress does not want to take the risk of cutting the ticket of any Brahmin face, as this may upset the Brahmin votes.

Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 final due to being 100 grams underweight, can also contest against her father-in-law Pierre Kay. Congress has given Vinesh Phogat the option of Dadri and Badhra seats of Charkhi Dadri district. Vinesh Phogat's village Balali falls in this district. Vinesh Phogat has got the third option of Julana seat of Jind district.

She demanded action against Tokyo Olympics bronze medalists Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia as well as former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and then BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is accused of sexually harassing several female wrestlers. The case is being heard in court.

The Delhi High Court recently refused to grant immediate relief to Brij Bhushan Singh in connection with a plea to quash FIRs lodged against him in sexual harassment cases filed by several women wrestlers. During a brief hearing, Justice Nina Bansal Krishna remarked, “There cannot be a blanket order for everything, it is an indirect approach.
