Consumer durables, capital goods and banking stocks gain traction | News India

Mumbai: Indian stock markets today traded marginally volatile amid cautious global markets, with Sensex, Nifty-based record gains halted by profit booking in frontline-heavyweight stocks by funds. Index-based declines were limited as funds continued selective buying in banking-finance stocks and value buying in capital goods, consumer durables stocks. Selective buying in stocks continued on expectations of a successful monsoon in the country and hopes of economic growth picking up this year with strong growth in the agriculture sector. Shares of Bajaj twins held firm against profit booking after a rally in banking, auto, Larsen & Toubro among other stocks. Sensex fluctuated between 82400 and 82676 to close 4.40 points down at 82555.44. Nifty 50 spot fluctuated between 25322 and 25235 and finally closed 1.15 points higher at 25279.85.

Consumer durables index rises by 802: Dixon rises by Rs 365 to Rs 12977: Voltas, Blue Star rise

Shares of consumer durables companies were the big buys among funds today. Dixon Technology rose Rs 364.80 to Rs 12,977.20, Voltas rose Rs 38.60 to Rs 1811.85, Blue Star rose Rs 24.10 to Rs 1685, Havells India rose Rs 18.35 to Rs 1903.25, CG Consumer rose Rs 4.20 to Rs 469.35, Titan Company rose Rs 30.45 to Rs 3617. BSE Consumer Durables index rose 801.97 points to close at 64175.94.

Among banking-finance stocks, funds rallied in ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank.

Selective buying of banking-finance stocks by funds continued. ICICI Bank rose Rs 17.80 to Rs 1247.80, Bajaj Finserv rose Rs 23.85 to Rs 1863.95 on attraction of Bajaj Housing IPO, HDFC Bank rose Rs 11.65 to Rs 1637.80, State Bank of India rose Rs 2.65 to Rs 824.75, Axis Bank rose Rs 3.15 to Rs 1191.80, Kotak Mahindra Bank rose Rs 4 to Rs 1784.20, Geojit Fin rose Rs 21.65 to Rs 157.70, JM Financial rose Rs 10.40 to Rs 118.55. Monarch Networth rose Rs 66.80 to Rs 858.40, JSW Holding rose Rs 19.55 to Rs 588.40, SBI Cards rose Rs 21.85 to Rs 765.85, LIC Housing Finance rose Rs 18.25 to Rs 693.70. Crisil rose Rs 105 to Rs 4640, Power Finance Corporation rose Rs 12.15 to Rs 559.

In capital goods stocks, Hindustan Aeronautics gained Rs 144 to Rs 4830: V-Guard, AIA gained

Select funds were buying capital goods stocks today. Hindustan Aeronautics rose Rs 144.40 to Rs 4830.50, V-Guard rose Rs 12.60 to Rs 465.40, AIA Engineering rose Rs 91.20 to Rs 4412.60, SKF India rose Rs 99.60 to Rs 5313, Honeywell Automation rose Rs 636.80 to Rs 50,745.75, Teamcan rose Rs 46.50 to Rs 3833.80, ABB India rose Rs 84.85 to Rs 7783.40, Kalpataru Power rose Rs 11.95 to Rs 1395.10, Polycab rose Rs 52.05 to Rs 6770. CG Power rose Rs 5.25 to Rs 689.30.

Funds rebound in auto stocks: Hero MotoCorp, Balakrishnan, Apollo Tyres, Cummins, MRF rise

Funds again made selective purchases in automobile company shares. Hero MotoCorp rose by Rs 72.75 to Rs 5648.45, Balkrishna Industries rose by Rs 32.55 to Rs 2927.65, Apollo Tyres rose by Rs 3.65 to Rs 502.50, Cummins India rose by Rs 27.50 to Rs 3833.95, Mahindra & Mahindra rose by Rs 7.05 to Rs 2784, MRF rose by Rs 170.30 to Rs 1,34,322, Bosch rose by Rs 39.85 to Rs 32,370.

Pricing in healthcare stocks: Polymed rises Rs 136 to Rs 2513: Solara, Kopron, Hester Bio rise

Fund value today was in shares of healthcare-pharmaceuticals companies. The market breadth remained positive with selective traction in small, mid cap, cash stocks. Out of total 4054 stocks traded on BSE, gainers were 1999 and losers were 1938.

Net purchase of shares by FPIs/FIIs Rs.1029 crore: Net purchase by DIIs Rs.1896 crore

Foreign Portfolio Investors – FPIs, FIIs made net purchases of shares worth Rs 1029.25 crore in cash today on Tuesday. A total of Rs 18,414.79 crore was sold as against a total purchase of Rs 19,444.04 crore. While DIIs-Domestic Institutional Investors made net purchases of Rs 1896.21 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 9971.07 crore was sold as against a total purchase of Rs 11,867.28 crore.

The asset-market capitalisation of investors in stocks reached a new record level of Rs 465.54 lakh crore

Investors' net wealth, or the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies, rose by Rs 69,000 crore to a new record high of Rs 465.54 lakh crore today, led by strong gains in stocks, especially consumer durables, capital goods, banking-finance stocks and small, midcap stocks.
