New Delhi: The Congress party, which has been fighting the Haryana assembly elections alone under the 'go alone' strategy, has finally changed its strategy. The party can now contest the elections in alliance with AAP, SP and leftist parties.
Although the situation is not very clear right now, but according to the indications, an alliance of these parties may come into existence soon. In which AAP can be given five to seven seats and SP and Left parties can also be given one seat each.
Rahul Gandhi stresses on opposition unity
The seats can be decided on the basis of the performance of these parties in the recently held Lok Sabha elections. After Rahul Gandhi himself stressed on opposition unity in a meeting with the top leaders of the party, discussions have intensified within the Congress party regarding alliance in Haryana. Also, senior party leaders have been asked to give their opinion regarding alliance with allies in Haryana.
Deepak Babaria also hinted at an alliance
If sources are to be believed, then the brainstorming within the party has intensified. Talks have started with AAP, SP and CPM in this regard. It is believed that in the next one or two days, there can be coordination with all these parties regarding seats. Congress party's Haryana in-charge and senior party leader Deepak Baria has also hinted at an alliance. However, he said, opinions are still being taken on this.
Current situation of Congress and AAP
The final decision will be taken by the party high command. Meanwhile, there has been a stir within AAP on the issue of alliance. AAP MP Sanjay Singh welcomed Rahul Gandhi's thinking and said that our priority is to defeat BJP. The final decision on this will be taken by our Haryana in-charge Sandeep Pathak and Sushil Gupta. According to party sources, in the current situation of Congress and AAP, both the parties need each other.
Will strengthen vote bank against BJP
Congress party can also try this alliance in Gujarat assembly where Congress has been out of power for a long time. They may need AAP there because AAP has built a vote bank there in the last few years. Anyway, these days Congress party's focus is on preventing the vote bank from breaking against BJP. This is the reason why the party has changed its Ekta Chalo strategy.
