Kolkata RG Tax Case: The troubles of four people including former principal of RG Kar Hospital Sandeep Ghosh, arrested in the financial misconduct case, have increased. All four were produced in the special CBI court in Alipore Court of Kolkata on Tuesday. The court has sent all four to eight days of custody.

On Monday, the CBI arrested Ghosh, his security guard Adhikari Ali and two vendors Biplab Singh and Suman Hazra in the case of financial irregularities.

Sandip Ghosh suspended
The state health department suspended Ghosh on Tuesday. According to the notification, this step has been taken in view of the investigation of the criminal case against Sandeep. At the same time, West Bengal Orthopedic Association (WBOA), a major organization of doctors, terminated the membership of Sandeep Ghosh on Tuesday.

What is the allegation against Sandeep Ghosh?
Ghosh is facing serious charges of favouritism in tenders, illegal sale of medical organic waste and passing medical students in exchange for money. On the orders of the Calcutta High Court, the Anti-Corruption Branch of the agency filed an FIR against Ghosh on August 24 and started investigating the case.

Former Deputy Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Akhtar Ali, had accused Ghosh of financial irregularities. The Mamata government of Bengal had formed an SIT on 16 August to investigate the hospital corruption case. A day later, on the orders of the High Court, the investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI. The High Court has directed the CBI to submit a progress report related to the investigation of the case on 17 September.
